Seaside Treasures Found in Watercolor Wednesday

Watercolor Wednesday, painting a seashell on a warm up from last week!

This is our next installment in our new weekly adventure, Watercolor Wednesday at the Kraaft Shaak.

This time we took that “seaside inspired” piece from our warms ups last week…well I thought it inspired the seaside anyway…and we will be painting a seashell right on top of it!

I start with a seashell drawing I sketched rather quickly from a creative commons photo I found on the internet. Is it a perfect likeness? Probably not, but this is supposed to be fun and loose, right? You have my permission to download the sketch and use it how you wish. you can trace it onto your warm ups or whatever you decide.

I used M.Grahams to paint the background, so I thought I would use my Daniel Smith palette to show you how well they layer and play together. YES! You can mix these companies in your palette if you want. They are playful together, so go for it.

These are the Daniel Smith colors I used today:

  • Opera Pink
  • Quinacridone Pink
  • New Gamboge
  • Pyrrole Orange
  • Quinacridone Burnt Orange
  • Phthalo Turquoise

About Heather Kraafter

First and foremost, I am a child of the One True King! I am blessed to be married to my best friend and was privileged to stay home and raise my boys. I began the Kraaft Shaak in 2010 as a way to experiment with crafting mediums and to teach others what I have learned and have come to enjoy it as my creative passion. Taking the 'show on the road' is my latest passion and each day is one step closer to that dream. Thanks for being a part of that journey too!
