Magnolias for Mother’s Day 1

Hello Kraafters!

Oh it is so good to be back in the studio creating for you again!!
On today’s WATERCOLOR WEDNESDAY project I combined watercolor with the upcoming celebrations of Mother’s Day here in the US.

A word of note, upon getting a global audience, I learned all sorts of new things and the first new thing I remember taking note of was that we don’t all celebrate these days on the same day…or even in the same month! Many of you already celebrated “mum” and honestly, there were so many that inspired me to be sure I made something nice for mine.

I am blessed to have several “Moms” in my life and I love making them something special when I am able.
I sat down and sketched a magnolia in a vase in my sketchbook. It was a rough sketch, nothing fancy! I used that as a base and made it a bit more “right” digitally on the iPad Pro. The Procreate program allows me to manipulate the sketch in a way that is just not possible on paper. Plus the digital format allows me to do it all MUCH QUICKER!
I have that digital sketch (it’s still pretty rough) available for all Patrons at every level to download and use as they wish. You can get a copy too, visit Patreon for more details.

We just got a new printer gifted to us and I must admit, it takes me a while to learn new technology…so when I printed the image, the leaf was cut off and the image was half the size I wanted.
I changed the plan from a small painting, (I was going for 8″ x 8″) to creating a card front. When I went to transfer the image using the graphite transfer technique, I realized TWO of these would fit on the 6″ x 8″ paper I chose…so why not?

What resulted is quite pleasing and I do hope you will enjoy the video. I also listed the items I used so you can get them yourself if you desire. All links provide additional income to our Kraaft Shaak on the GO! through the Amazon Associates Program. We thank you for that support!

About Heather Kraafter

First and foremost, I am a child of the One True King! I am blessed to be married to my best friend and was privileged to stay home and raise my boys. I began the Kraaft Shaak in 2010 as a way to experiment with crafting mediums and to teach others what I have learned and have come to enjoy it as my creative passion. Taking the 'show on the road' is my latest passion and each day is one step closer to that dream. Thanks for being a part of that journey too!

My Magnolia trees are in bloom!! This is a beautiful post. I, unfortunately, lost my Mom in 2012 and won’t be getting any praise from my kids for sure. Not a very good year for me but hey, life goes on, right? Love the post, Heather, sorry I missed the show on Tuesday but I will try to do better :-).
    Huge Hugs!!
