This day on Kraaft It LIVE will be a fun one…we are hold the live drawing for our 3 – 2 – 1 Challenge giveaway and we are discussing drawing like what you see in the picture on this page right now. In case you miss the live show you can always catch the replay on our YouTube channel, the title is Let’s Draw on Kraaft It LIVE!
Drawing is one of those things I just can not get enough of. I used to hate it. Why? Because I could not do it!!
Well, that is what I thought anyway.
What I learned was that with a bit of knowledge and a lot of practice I was able to do it better and then I just created the feel I wanted and finessed that into what you now see is my Kraaft Shaak logo. I tend to sit on the couch with my family and while we watch whatever they have decided to watch on the big box we call a TV, I can be found with my sketch pad working diligently on some squiggle or two.
I want to give you a few tips to help you get started and a few ideas to let go of if you want to do better no matter where you are in your drawing skills.
First the ideas to let go of:
#1 – “I can’t even draw a straight line!” Neither can I. That is why I own a ruler!!
#2 – “I am no good at this!” You are only as good as you want to be and you can only be compared to what you did yesterday! Stop looking at other’s works of heARTistry and create your own style!
#3 – “I don’t have all the tools you showed us.” So what! It has taken me several years of collecting one piece at a time to gain this wonderful set of tools I own…but no matter what the only thing you EVER NEED is a pencil and a piece of paper. I give you permission to steal a pencil from a kid in your home and use a napkin if necessary.
Now – the tips:
#1 – DO NOT GIVE UP! I start with that because I already heard you whining about not doing it. ha ha
#2 – Practice!! The more you practice, the more it will seem like second nature and not so goofy. I have found many tutorials and ideas for practicing to get you started on my Pinterest Board Art – how it is done. So head over there, copy off one of the practice ideas and do that one for a day or two until you can do it without having to look at the original.
#3 – Practice! You still need to just do this over and over to get those muscles moving in the right direction for you. If you don’t it will feel clunky and weird…so PRACTICE!
#4 – PRACTICE SOME MORE! ya, I said it…are you doing it?? Seeing a pattern here?
Finally I also chatted about water coloring with markers in this show – the markers I used were:
that I bought at Walmart
Faber-Castell PITT artist pen big brush
purchasable on Blick Art Materials website

Editor’s Note: (added after the show aired)
During the show there was a bit of laughter going on and I never figured it out…until it was pointed out to me that I had misspelled MY OWN COMPANY’S NAME!!!!! Well, just going to show you one more time – I have perfected the imperfect Kraafting show!
