Inspiration Wednesday continues #iw2016 update 4

Inspiration Wednesday continues with weeks 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9

Hello Kraafters!

Playing catch up in MANY ways!

You may have missed the first post about Inspiration Wednesdays. You may want to read that first to understand how I got here.

As always, I will not be sharing any of the process here, for that you will need to visit Donna Downey’s Inspiration Wednesday class and get the “how to” there. Here I am showing my version of her lessons and explaining my heart as I played in my journal.

Week #5 was an absolute blast!

#iw2016 week 5

I do not own the type of large number stencil Donna used and I knew open space was the key to this technique so I grabbed the Mother’s Little Helper stencil from ArtistCellar and used that. It turned out perfectly. I loved how the resist I created using my clear embossing powder allowed me to just wipe back the rusty looking paint off the iridescent martini glasses and then the shadowing just knocked my socks off!

The quote reads,

“This world belongs to the ENTHUSIASTIC” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Week #6 oh boy oh boy – DRIPS!

#iw2016 week 6

As soon as I saw the video on this I knew two things…one, another stencil I do not have and two, with all that dark background dripping across the page, it NEEDED LIGHT!

So, it hit me…LIKE A MATCH!

I have stated before that TobyMac’s latest album, This Is Not A Test is my anthem this year. Some choose a word, some have a symbol…I chose I’M ALL IN! however, as this year progresses it is every single song on this album – so why fight it? This is taken from the song, Like A Match

The partial lyrics to this song are:

I keep hearin’ people say, I need a getaway
We got that getaway that takes ‘em to a whole new place
Won’t leave us empty, won’t leave us craving more
We found that fulfillin’ fire that they been lookin’ for

Oh oh oh oh
If it’s real, we gotta show it
Oh oh oh oh
‘Cause if it’s not, they sure gonna know it

You and me, we gotta love
Hold nothing back
You and me, we gotta love
Strike it up, like a match

Burnin’ for the world, we’re
Burnin’ for the world
Burnin’ for the world to see
You and me, we gotta love
Strike it up, like a match

I feel like I am called to strike it up like a match and let the whole world see the burning He has placed inside of me. I am doing my best to live that daily! This page just radiates that in every way!!!

Week #7 – texture and playtime

#iw2016 week 7

There is that combo of color I can not run away from anymore. I remember a day when blue and orange made me cringe but oh how long ago that is! Here I am using a Blue/Green iridescent Pebeo Studio Dyna acrylic and the nickel azo gold by Golden to achieve what has become one of my favorite combos! What I am enjoying most about this series is that I am trying my hardest to resist the urge to buy new stuff and use up what I have on hand. In this case, the squirrel was a part of a book collection I have been saving for such an occasion. It is this milk crate filled with textural and graphic elements just waiting to be used as texture and imagery in my art. Why do I hoard these things and not use them???

Week #8 – napkins, my guilty pleasure!

#iw2016 week 8

Oh how the Napkin Curator deep down inside danced for joy creating this page!!! I must admit to being a grand curator of these lovely works of art in their own right. I just love them and if at a party where someone has provided them as a place setting I will, without hesitation, place the pretty servette into my purse as quick as a bunny! I would rather wipe my hand on my pants than mess up one of these beauties!

Then Donna goes and instructs us to use them, in our journal, just like that!

OH MY OH MY I was a happy  HAPPY girl that day!

The quote fits oh so well…

“I dream my painting and then I paint my dream.” – Vincent Van Gogh

Week #9 – forgiven, blessed, LOVED!

#iw2016 week 9

Getting caught up on everything is taking it’s toll on me. It was seven weeks between Week #8 & week #9 for me!!!

I enjoyed this process. It was a little hard for me to get into at first and I do not fully understand why, but once I got to the color stage of this beautiful page I was in my glorious happy zone. The way the hearts pop off the page and how I was successful at creating the “rub on gold foil look” without the supply was pretty darn cool!

This is another from the TobyMac song book, ha ha. Love Broke Thru is a great song! It is full of deep truth that I resonated with the first time I heard it. I know it is about a young boy at summer camp who God got a hold of his heart and we now see him perform today for God’s glory as TobyMac – but for me the song speaks of my own “t’was lost but now am found” story.

The quote reads:

When love broke thru
You found me in the darkness
Wanderin’ thru the desert
I was a hopeless fool
Now I’m hopelessly devoted
My chains are broken
And it all began with You

Love Broke Thru – TobyMac

Well I hope you are enjoying this journey as much as I am…and I hope you will enjoy the next installment of Inspiration Wednesday Journey, stay tuned!

All of your pages are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing! I did get a good giggle to learn you are the Napkin Curator. I thought I was! LOL These you wrote have to be the best 2 sentences EVER…. “I would rather wipe my hand on my pants than mess up one of these beauties! Then Donna goes and instructs us to use them, in our journal, just like that!” bwahahahaha

Enjoyed you explaining what the pages meant to your heart. I always love “hearing” what a piece meant to the creator of it. That’s what art’s all about, right?? I forgot to put something in the pkg I sent you…a little servette with tea cups on it. (Someone gave me a pkg…and I was going to share. Next time.) Thanks for sharing your art.
