Why Artfullymade? Because when I look back and reflect on what has brought to where I am today, I can’t help but know that it takes art to make all this happen! I’m a former teacher. I left the classroom to focus on my health. In that process, I found time for my art. I love creating and love having projects to work on. I don’t call myself an artist, but I do see the world in shapes and colors. I don’t know if I can define my style, but I create based on my mood. I love creating. I like to play with materials and hope that in the end, I have something appealing.

I am a self taught artist and crafter living in beautiful Southern Arizona, USA. I work in my home surrounded by my loving family of four males between the ages of 16 and 50, all of which are left brained thinkers. They love me but sometimes they think I am a bit crazy! I love the versatility of what can be created with paper. I have run the gamut of all paper crafts from stamping to paper sculpting. Currently I am in love with collage and mixed media. I also dabble in beading and wire jewelry making, as well as sewing. Currently I have been obsessed with making art journal pages and practicing my drawing and painting, but one never knows what I might make next! My family has been known to say I can make ‘anything’.

I’m a scrapbooker with scrapbooking tendencies who started doing Mixed Media about two years ago. I love to try out new techniques and new styles. When I was a kid, I was frustrated with my lack of ability to make what was in my head, so I resorted to writing to express myself. Now that I’m older I have a little more ability and a lot more confidence, and I love to blend the two, creating a story with my work, as well as sharing a story with my work. One of my main themes is that Any ONE can do this!

Hi, I’m Sylvia!!! I have been kraafting pretty much most of my life from all the childhood “goodies” kids make, to the plethora that is known as the Kraafting World today. I dabble in many different mediums: watercolors, cardmaking, journal making/binding, booklets, origami, mixed media, wire wrap jewelry, sewing, crochet, but I am master of none, as I must keep my hands moving, doing, creating, learning new, revisiting old, altering, building, fixing, mending…
My first love is paper — all types of paper. There is something about it’s smell, the texture and colors that speaks to my Soul and begs me to touch it, tear it, scrunch it and just alter it.
My parents were children of WWII, and the frugalness of those times carried over into their adulthood and into my childhood. Recycling/repurposing is just a natural way of life for me and gives me great Joy to use what I have in my artistic endeavors. I recently found this quote that speaks volumes — “earth without ART is just EH.” How true, how very true!!!
